Story Behind

Organic farming was being practiced all around the world since human settled down and started crop cultivation. People in India and around the world used natural substances as fertilizers and pesticides. World War II resulted in wide spread famine and a sudden population explosion due to peaceful post war environment, there was a need to increase agricultural output exponentially. This lead to farmers trying out and finally adopting agro chemicals for farming which allowed higher yields in less time.

Scientists and farmers soon realized the drawbacks of conventional farming which is unsustainable and unhealthy for the farmland and has negative impact on human health. They realized organic farming allows for a sustainable farming and maintain an ecological balance. Since then, its importance has been spreading around the world and it’s various advantages have motivated farmers to take up organic farming and be a responsible and sustainable farmer.

Organic Practices

Organic products are those which do not use chemical and other harmful substances that may harm the consumer and the environment. Organic products are made or extracted from naturally available substances and organisms and are thus eco-friendly.

Some organic practices are as follows:

Use of organic fertilizers, insecticides and pesticides.
Using diverse combinations of plants and controlled and educated crop cycling methods. Using this method allows higher optimization of nutrients in the soil.
Organic farming allows the farm to form into mulch and natural tillage and fertilize the soil and conserve the soil and minimizes potash and phosphate depletion which is necessary for crop cultivation.

Interesting facts

Organic dye is made from roots, nuts, flowers, berries, skins etc. And other plant extracts and organic sources like fungi and lichens. It is all natural and can be made without the use of any machinery making it 100% eco friendly.

Organic farming consumes about 40% less energy as compared to conventional farming because of high energy intensive chemical fertilizers used conventional farming.

Organic farming allows about 30%-35% less soil erosion due to the crop rotation practice.

Environmental Impact

By opting for organic products, the consumer promotes a less polluting and a more eco-friendly agricultural system. More advantages of using and promoting organic products are:
